Summer’s not over yet!  The days are still long - and we’ve got plenty of things for you to experience at our museum.  And we’re not just talking about Philly’s favorite exhibits, like the Giant Heart, the Train Factory, SportsZone or Space Command.  You don’t want to miss out on these:

Night Skies August 13
Come explore the Night Skies with us!  Build your own experience from any combination of planetarium shows, a live science talk on astronomy or space science, hands-on astronomy activities, and continuous telescopic observing all evening (weather permitting). The program is staffed with knowledgeable observers, and free star maps are provided.  This month Chief Astronomer Derrick Pitts will be discussing "Perseids and Artemis" and giving us the best advice for seeing the Perseids meteors. You’ll also get a close look at our next ‘home away from home’ and learn how NASA plans to put ‘boots in the craters’ in just 4 years!"

Did you know that we have live science demonstrations happening everyday?  You might learn:
 - Using liquid nitrogen, see how ultra-cold temperatures change the ways familiar materials behave
 - How to use pulp to make paper that you can take home
 - How your own eyes work as you watch the dissection of a real cow’s eye
 - Or perhaps how your own heart works as you watch the dissection of a real sheep’s heart.
 - Explore weather using three ingredients - heat, air and water.

Virtual Reality Open Daily
Science comes to life like never before. At our room-scale immersive VR zone in Space Command, you might encounter a blue whale, go inside the human body, tour the solar system, peek into a brain, and much more using Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.  Pro-tip: You don’t need to be at The Franklin Institute to immerse yourself in other worlds. All you need is our app and a VR headset—and you can stand on a space shuttle flight deck, hear the cries of Hawaiian monk seals, walk the beaches of Midway Atoll, and step aboard the bridge of a research vessel, just for starters.
