Where are sessions held?
Professional development sessions are most frequently held at the museum to incorporate our exhibits. Sessions can also be offered at your location. Availability is based on space and staffing.
Do you provide online sessions?
Yes web-based presentations are available and can be customized based on the needs and interests of groups.
Who facilitates the sessions?
Sessions are led by experienced staff from The Franklin Institute professional development team, who have deep expertise related to the topics of the sessions including STEM education, neuroscience and learning, science and literacy, and more.
Do you provide continuing education credits?
The Franklin Institute offers Act 48 credits for in-service teachers in Pennsylvania, for in-person sessions that are a minimum of three hours in length. We are also able to provide paperwork for reciprocal continuing education credits in New Jersey and Delaware.
Are the workshops aligned with academic standards?
Yes all of our professional development sessions and accompanying curriculum materials align with Next Generation Science Standards and Common Core Standards.
Who are your current partners?
We are fortunate to work with several school districts and out-of-school time organizations in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware, and are always looking to expand our partnerships. Do you have evaluation results that show the impact of your professional development?
Recent evaluation findings show that our professional development has significant, positive impacts on people’s knowledge, awareness, practices, beliefs, and interests related to the brain and learning.
